DEPARTMENT: Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA)
DIVISION: Dean's Office
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Manage the MSFEA career services designed to advance students and the Faculty through the provision of career identification, career planning, job search consultation, outreach programs, career workshops, and career development services for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni.
DUTIES PERFORMED:
- Organize and coordinate career services and placement activities. Prepare and organize workshops, seminars, fairs, etc. Assist potential employers in recruiting MSFEA students.
- Disseminate information on career programs, internships, career opportunities and development activities to students, alumni, faculty and staff through appropriate media.
- Work closely with departments, the Dean’s Office, and key external stakeholder groups to expand and maintain a career development and employer recruitment network, and to develop and sustain a continuum of internships, career options, and job placements.
- Responsible for the marketing and promotional efforts of the Faculty, including preparation of promotional/marketing material, brochures and advertisements.
- Enhance and/or develop, maintain, and manage effective external relationships while marketing the Faculty and its students to career partners by initiating contact and visiting/traveling to meet with representatives of business, industry, and organizations to promote the Faculty’s students and programs; and represent the Faculty to internal and external audiences.
- Work with chairs/directors and faculty members to develop and promote diverse internship opportunities to MSFEA students.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of available employment and internship opportunities in local, regional, and international markets.
- Work with the Development Office, faculty, alumni, and administrators to identify career opportunities for students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Establish a partnership, communication, and referral network between all departments in the MSFEA and the campus-wide AUB Career Services. Represent MSFEA in relevant campus activities, committees, or functions.
- Provide career consulting, job availability information, interview skills, resume writing training, and internship and career search assistance to students and alumni, both individually and in groups.
- Solicit and utilize feedback to update curricula and to create and implement programs that respond to the needs of business, industry and organizations.
- Develop internship and placement statistics for the MSFEA. Prepare annual reports and other documentation as needed.
- Maintain electronic material (website, social media, etc.) related to the Career Center accurate and up to date.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Regular contacts with the MSFEA administration, staff, faculty, students, alumni, potential employers and recruitment agencies.
- Reports to the Dean or other designated supervisor.
- Works according to established procedures and professional standards. Completed work is subject to subsequent review.
- Staff at MSFEA Career Center.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Normal work conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in administration, human resources, marketing, counseling, or a closely related and relevant field.
- Three to four years of general business work experience and/or human resources work experience preferably in higher education.
- Experience conducting needs assessment and marketing people, products, and services to external clients.
- Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic.
- Knowledge of information technology used in career planning and placement, including very good knowledge of MS Office, internet, and database systems.
